Jaques and Johnny Cables

This morning my roommate frantically returned to our apartment a few minutes after she left to grab some stuff. I didn't know what was going on, but I also didn't ask.  So I went about my usual routine.  I finished my tea and put clothes on.  Then I headed to the gym.
After I had ran three miles, I didn't feel like running anymore so I stopped.  It was already starting to be a weird day.  In the middle of my ab-workout on the incline bench I got a text from my roommate.  She told me her car wouldn't start and if I could take her to K-Mart to get some jumper cables.  I said sure, because why wouldn't I?  I had to grab some stuff anyway so it was no big deal.
I head back to the apartment, shower off, get dressed, grab a Kashi bar, then we head over to K-Mart.  We walk around and grab all the stuff I needed, and then headed over to the automotive department.  This weird older employee asks us what we're looking for, tells us he has something cheaper in the back, then returns promptly.  He grabs the cables we were holding, which were $14.99 and gives us a $9.99 set, without even asking if we actually wanted the cheaper ones.  Well, whatever, for $9.99 and twelve feet should be enough, right?  Right.  So we go through the check out and come home.
First dilemma:  The packaging for the jumper cables is way too sealed for any normal person to rip open themselves.  So we go grab some scissors.  Problem solved.
Second dilemma: Her car is gridlocked in the parking lot, so there's no where for me to pull my car around to reach her hood within twelve feet.  This ended up being our biggest problem.  We struggled with this for a good ten minutes.  We decided that she should put her car into neutral and reverse into a different parking spot.  But for whatever reason, Lexus deemed it appropriate to lock up the gears so that you can't shift into neutral without the car being on.  Great.
Third through hundredth dilemma: So we found a maintenance worker for our apartment complex.  His name is Jaques and he is this really awesome Black dude.  I see him at the gym a lot.  Anyway, he said he would help us out, go grabs some longer cables, and returns.  We pop my hood. Awesome!  There is a protective box covering my battery, which can only be removed with a special bolt tool!  So he goes and grabs some tools, all of which don't work.  Then he comes back with this sweet self-starting jumper cable box thing.  It's supposed to be able to start your car on its own.  Of course, the thing itself wasn't charged.  So no luck there.
At this point, all three of us are just standing around trying to figure out what to do.  Then, out of nowhere, this Asian guy comes up and his car is parked right in front of my roommates.  He told us he came out to grab some onions he left in the car so he could grill them up and make some lunch.  (Oh, it was Jaques' lunch break at this time as well.  He's so nice for helping us out.)  Anyway, the Asian guy, whose name is Johnny (because I asked), pulled out his own set of cables from his car and helped start up hers.  Woohoo!  Johnny Cables to the rescue.
Well, I hope Johnny had a good, oniony lunch and that Jaques did too.  My roommate and I went and bought Jaques a six-pack of Corona, which she delivered to the maintenance office a little later.  Everyone seemed to enjoy that.  Well, that's about it.
