I visited the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. They had an awesome show set up with a lot of pieces from their permanent collection displayed. Most of these pieces I had only seen in books or online, so it was really quite amazing to see them in person. I could smell the oils and see the texture on many of the pieces. I saw pieces by Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, Lee Krasner, Joe Goode, Robert Rauschenberg, and many more. It was fun trying to guess and remember each artist and title of the work. It turns out that I actually retained a lot from my art history classes.
I love MOCA, especially on family days. There were parents with their children all over the museum and it made me happy to know that a lot of the kids were being exposed to such great art at such a young age. If I had been given this opportunity, I know it would have been something that I would have remembered forever. I also participated in free arts and crafts and just explored around the museum. There were many different exhibits up with so many familiar pieces that I recognized. What was even more awesome was that there were so many pieces that I didn’t recognize and that I got to experience first hand.
